ICEBREAKER GAMES FOR CHILDREN

SIMON SAYS, “HEAD and SHOULDERS and KNEES and TOES”:

Goal: Identifying body parts and increasing listening skills.

Procedure: As the leader says and touches the body parts of head, shoulders, knees, and toes, the children copy the actions of the leader. Whenever the leader says “head” but touches the knees and the child does it, the child is eliminated from the game.

THE TIME IS

Goal: Group telling time.

Procedure: Provide a large space. Two clocks are created on the floor with the numbers only. A leader is selected to call out different times. Two teams are formed. The leader calls out a time like 3:30pm or 10:00am. The children from each group must form that time correctly before the other team forms it. This is repeated several times and the highest score wins.

BALLOON IN THE AIR:

Goal: Batting the balloon skills and working together

Procedure: Divide the group into two divided by a masking tape line. Several balloons are given to each group. The children must sit down on the floor; bat the balloon up in the air towards the other side of the masking tape line. Each group tries to bat the balloon without it touching the ground. A point is earned by the other team when the balloon touches the ground. Play it like volleyball and have four periods of four-minute periods. Total points win.
